I am writing to urgently ask for your support of the $780 million funding request for the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) for Fiscal Year 2026. This funding is critical to the well-being of our community, and I urge you to take immediate action to ensure it is included in the upcoming budget.
Representatives Jim Costa (D-CA-21) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-01) are circulating a letter in the U.S. House of Representatives, asking their colleagues to join them in this request and to continue allowing Community Action Agencies (CAAs) to assist households with incomes up to 200% of the poverty line. Without this funding, vital services such as emergency assistance, job training, and health support that so many families rely on will be at risk.
In Cuyahoga County and the Greater Cleveland area, these services are absolutely vital. Local Community Action Agencies provide crucial support to families facing economic hardships, helping them navigate through tough times with access to resources that can make a lasting difference. Without robust funding for CSBG, many of the families in our community would be left without the critical support they need to thrive. These services are key to breaking the cycle of poverty and building a stronger, more resilient Cleveland.
Please sign on to this bipartisan request for FY2026 funding and help secure a better future for Ohio’s residents. I cannot emphasize enough how important this funding is, and I would greatly appreciate your leadership in ensuring it moves forward.
Thank you for your time and for considering the immediate needs of our community.
