Step Forward is pleased to announce the expansion of the agency’s Head Start program with the opening of two new locations in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The new centers, located at 10991 Memphis Avenue in Brooklyn and 23340 Miles Road in Bedford Heights, will offer an improved educational experience for children and families within the community.
Effective June 2024, Step Forward’s Willard Early Learning Center will relocate from its current space to the Memphis Avenue location. The move signifies a new chapter for the center, which was previously located in the basement of Breakthrough Schools.
“The square footage of our new building along Memphis Avenue is more than 42,000 square feet,” George Phillips Olivier, Step Forward’s Vice President of Operations, said happily. “About 20,000 square feet of that is warehouse space, but the rest is designated for Head Start.”
The early learning center along Memphis Avenue will have five Head Start classrooms and two Early Head Start rooms with additional space to expand. It will feature new play areas, state-of-the-art monitoring and safety systems.
“Best of all, it has ample room for drop-off and parking,” Phillips Olivier said. “This is an upgrade from our limited space at Willard, which offered limited parking, lacked in natural light and had small play areas.”
Step Forward’s new early learning center along Miles Road is 19,000 square feet. It will have four Head Start classrooms and three Early Head Start classrooms with room to add more, if needed.
“We believe that both new locations will enhance the learning environment for the children and provide a more comfortable setting for our staff to support the growth and development of our young learners,” Dr. Thea Wilson, Step Forward’s Vice President of Children and Families, said. “We look forward to opening both centers in time for the 2024-2025 academic school year.”
