What to Do Now
Schedule an Appointment
The type of appointment you need depends on whether your utilities are currently connected or disconnected. Select the option below that matches your situation to get started.
Utilities On?
If your gas or electric service is still connected, including if you have received a shutoff notice, schedule a regular crisis appointment.
Schedule online 24/7 or call us at (216) 480-HEAP (4327). Appointment availability is updated daily. For Winter Crisis, once your appointment is secured, a utility hold will be requested for up to 30 days while you wait.
Utilities Off?
If your gas or electric service is already disconnected, request a Next-Day Emergency Reconnection Appointment. These appointments are specifically for households currently without utility service. Utility status will be verified.
A limited number of appointments become available at 10 a.m. each business day for the following business day. If appointments are full, please try again the next business day.
Gather Your Documents
Upload all required documents at least 5 days before your appointment in the Step Forward Appointment Scheduler.
You may also submit documents in person at 2203 Superior Ave., Cleveland, OH 44114 during business hours or by fax to (216) 516-0091 (include your appointment date, time, and confirmation number on the cover sheet). Missing documents may delay assistance or result in cancellation. Download checklist to see what you need before your appointment.
Answer Your Phone
We will call you at your scheduled appointment time. If you miss your appointment call, you may need to reschedule, and appointment availability is limited.
Walk-in and in-person crisis assistance are not available. All crisis appointments must be scheduled in advance and are conducted by phone. To help keep everyone safe and warm, please do not travel to our office or wait outside for crisis assistance.
