Tayia has been working tirelessly to build a brighter future after falling on hard times. In May 2025, she proudly earned her master’s degree – a milestone she pursued with determination to better herself and create new opportunities. Even with that incredible achievement, the weight of student expenses and a career transition has made day-to-day stability difficult.
When Tayia’s sister told her about Step Forward’s Summer Crisis Program, Tayia applied. Soon after, she was approved to attend one of the agency’s Mobile Resource Fairs, where she received an air conditioner and two fans.
For many, these items may seem like simple household items. For Tayia, they represent something deeper – nights of restful sleep in a cool bedroom, fewer worries about her health and comfort, and a little more peace of mind as she focuses on building the life she has worked so hard for.
"I would like to say thank you to Step Forward, for this program and for giving resources to the community,” she said.
This summer alone, Step Forward has placed 239 air conditioners and nearly 500 fans in the homes of Greater Cleveland families. For many, it’s not just about weathering the season. Rather, it’s about stepping into the future with a little more comfort, stability, and hope.
