Forward Futures: Meet Elijah

Securing meaningful employment is an important step toward a brighter future. When 20-year-old Elijah learned that Step Forward was hosting a job fair at a local library, he knew it was an opportunity to connect with employers and pursue a new beginning. 

Elijah recently left his job at a warehouse. While seeking new employment, he is living with family to save money and work toward having a home of his own. 

At Step Forward’s job fair, Elijah met with dozens of local employers eager to meet motivated job seekers like him. He even sparked a conversation with a representative from a local college that has motivated him to consider continuing his education.  

Elijah was also connected with Step Forward's Youth Work Experience program. Through the program, he became a certified tax preparer and helped dozens of people in Cuyahoga County file their taxes for free.

The job fair did more than provide Elijah with employment leads and career opportunities, it opened doors, broadened his possibilities, and reminded him that new beginnings are always within reach.
