Forward Futures: Meet Nyejah

At Step Forward, we believe every family’s success is a community success. One powerful example is the story of Nyejah Hamilton and her children, Camari and Cameron. 

Nyejah is a tenant at Scholar House Apartments and recently completed her degree at Hondros College of Nursing, an achievement that reflects her dedication to creating a brighter future for her family. 

Her daughter, Camari King, was one of the first children to enroll at Step Forward’s Scholar House Early Learning Center when the site opened in April 2024. In 2025, Camari welcomed her baby brother, Cameron, who joined her in the same classroom. Both children are growing and learning together in a nurturing environment. 

While pregnant with Cameron, Nyejah served as a Parent Committee Chairperson at Scholar House. She continues to give back by volunteering her time and contributing toward in-kind support for the program. 

Stories like Nyejah’s remind us that when families have a safe place to live, access to education, and quality early childhood care, they can build the future they dream of. With the support of Step Forward and caring community partners, parents like Nyejah don’t just imagine a better tomorrow — they make it happen.
